Our Mission

The Case Management, Information and Payrolling System (CMIPS) tracks case information and processes payments for the California Department of Social Services In-Home Supportive Services Program, enabling nearly 400,000 qualified aged, blind, and disabled individuals in California to remain in their own homes and avoid institutionalization.

The mission of the CMIPS II Project is to award and administer a contract to develop, implement, and maintain a follow-on system to the current CMIPS system. Our goal is to transition from the legacy CMIPS to CMIPS II with no disruption in IHSS services.

Current Project Status

TThe prime contract was awarded in April, 2008, with a Project Initiation date of July 1, 2008. Support contracts have been awarded to help manage the statewide system implementation, and to assist with project management and system engineering.

The CMIPS II application will be implemented over a period of over three years. We are scheduled to take 13 months to design, code, and test the CMIPS II application, with assistance from CWDA and county participants. Following this CMIPS II will be implemented in a few pilot counties. The remaining counties will be rolled out in six overlapping groups, each with 7 months of activities, from formal engagement to full county operations. State and vendor Implementation staff will be onsite with each county as they implement CMIPS II. Funding will be provided to counties at proportionate levels for a total of 26 months of implementation activities.

The CMIPS II Project estimated milestone dates are:

  • July, 2008 – Project Initiation
  • August., 2008 – Dec., 2009 – Requirements, Design, Coding, & Testing
  • January, 2010 – Pilot Go-Live
  • April, 2010 – Go-Live, First of Six County Groups
  • July, 2011 – Go-Live, Final County Group
  • August, 2011 – CMIPS Project DDI Phase End
